Our Safeguarding Team
We have a safeguarding team who meet at least once every two weeks to discuss any safeguarding issues relating to our children.

Operation Encompass
In conjunction with Cheshire Police, Locking Stumps Community Primary School is involved in an initiative called Operation Encompass. The purpose of Operation Encompass is to safeguard and support children and young people who have been involved in, heard or witnessed a domestic abuse incident. Following such an incident, children will often arrive at school distressed, upset, worried and unprepared. Operation Encompass aims to ensure that appropriate school staff (called Key Adults) are made aware early enough to support children and young people in a way that means they feel safe and included.
At Locking Stumps our Key Adult is Jamie Vermiglio, Headteacher and Designated Senior Leader.
This is an invaluable initiative that means we can continue to support and help children and families within our school community when they need it the most.

Safeguarding in our Curriculum
Keeping children safe in every way is paramount to what we do at Locking Stumps. It is fully integrated into our every day life and into all of our curriculum subjects as well as our every day class routines. Some examples of how keeping safe is embedded into our school can be viewed here:
PE - Healthy Lifestyles, how to exercise properly, keeping safe during all sports and how being active can help us to stay fit and healthy.
Computing - Staying safe online is integrated throughout our computing curriculum. We have esafety officers, regular esafety updates, parent meetings and assemblies, sometimes led by the children. Not to mention the special software which is loaded onto our computing systems to ensure that the content we view is age appropriate.
Other curriculum lessons - Safety is regularly talked about e.g. we tuck our chair in when walking around the classroom, we use equipment safely, we behave appropriately, etc.

Safeguarding Procedures for Teachers
Teachers monitor the wellbeing of children on a day to day basis. If they have any concerns relating to the safeguarding of a child they fill in a 'yellow slip' (safeguarding form) and hands it directly to the Designated Safeguarding Lead who will decide what actions to take.
Safeguarding Procedures for Parents
If parents have any concerns relating to the wellbeing of their children or any other children they can report it to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Recent results from a Parent Survey indicated:
98.9% think that their child is safe and well looked after in our school (2 parents said they neither agreed or disagreed)
Safeguarding Procedures for Children
If children are concerned about the wellbeing of themselves or others they are encouraged to speak immediately to a teacher or adult in school. All children are reminded of this throughout the school year during school assemblies.
A recent school survery indicated that:
100% felt happy in school
(1.2% of these children did not know)
99.4% felt safe in school
(6.1% of these children did not know)
100% felt that staff looked after them
(3% of these children did not know)
99.4% felt that they could talk to someone in school if they were unhappy
(1.2% of these children did not know)
